SPM Resources has an immediate need for a Sr. Bridge Engineer in Charlotte, NC to deliver on engineering projects throughout North/South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Qualified applicants will have a BS in Structural or Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineering license. Will be supporting the exciting expansion of a rapidly growing southeastern transportation engineering consulting firm supporting NC/SC/GA/FL DOT projects. Be a part of large‑scale transportation and infrastructure development with a growing and dynamic team. Opportunity for regional leadership. Position can be based Charlotte NC or Charleston SC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Proficiency in bridges and structures pertaining to engineered solutions for temporary structures and support systems such as girder lift plans and shoring wall systems.
- Concrete Formwork/Falsework Design, Shoring Wall Systems, other structural concrete, steel, timber designs.
- Experience with permanent and design-build projects with the SC/NC DOT.
- Manage and develop a team of Project Engineers.
- Have an in-depth understanding and ability to analyze and design according to current design codes, design criteria, and structural mechanics.
- Design of Permanent Structures such as bridges, sign foundations, moment slabs, MSE Walls.
- Assist with project log updates and maintenance.
- Assist with implementation of new software (OpenBridge, 3D CAD, DatuBIM, etc.).
- Identify and assist with the preparation of value engineering proposals.
- Oversee the design of temporary structures including temporary bridges, barge analysis, concrete, steel, girders, heavy lift plans, trestles, permanent structures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 8-20 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with permanent and temporary structures and construction engineering.
- PE licensure within the United States and ability to obtain additional licensure and certifications as required.
- Experience with engineering design and drafting software such as OpenBridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or related software.
- Strong understanding of constructability and academic knowledge of structural engineering.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Legally able to work in the US.
