Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis preferred.
• Responsive to DOT design experience; GDOT preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience on bridges.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is required.

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation group in Atlanta, GA. A Senior Bridge Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include preparing the plans and designs of structures such as highway and railroad bridges, multilevel interchanges, retaining walls, overhead sign structures and bridge class culverts and may include bridge condition inspection.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Manage structural aspects of projects and/or multi-disciplinary projects.

• Lead design tasks and our quality control process.

• Prepare structural design calculations, plans, and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards (i.e. AASHTO, ACI, AISC, GDOT, etc.)

• Take active mentoring role; encourages, motivates, and develops staff for high performance.

• Collaborate with colleagues in other offices and different areas of expertise in an integrated and fast paced design environment.

• Manage structural resources to ensure projects are completed accurately and within budget and time frame.

• Assist in the pursuit of projects, including the development of fee estimates and proposals.

• Participate in interviews and hiring of new staff members.

• Represent the organization at professional organizations and conferences.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

• Proven track record delivering designs on large scale, complex bridge and infrastructure projects and coordinating teams from different disciplines.

• In-depth understanding of all phases of project document production including codes, legal and design requirements for relevant Authorities/Agencies

• Broad technical knowledge within the transportation practice/structure engineering.

• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.

• You are comfortable being the lead engineer on bridge and infrastructure projects and are able to play a key role in project delivery from inception to construction, with proven ability to work with clients.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Mathcad, MicroStation, Leap Bridge, MDX or other relevant design software.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering is required. An emphasis on Structural Engineering is a plus.

• DOT design experience required. GDOT preferred.

• Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience on bridges and other transportation structures.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration required.
