Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with bridge design expertise to join our Structural Engineering Team in Birmingham, Alabama. You will ensure safety and integrity of structures, applying AASHTO and state guidelines while leading design and reporting activities.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of bridge experience, a PE license, and proficiency in OpenBridge/LEAP, MicroStation, and MS Office to deliver concrete, durable infrastructure for federal, state, and local

Qualifications

ABET-accredited civil/structural engineering degree.
Professional engineer (PE) license required or able to obtain.
10+ years of bridge design experience with leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

Perform analysis, modeling, and design of bridges for public and private clients.
Lead state and local highway bridge design projects and related structures.
Prepare technical reports and design documents; communicate with clients.
Ensure adherence to AASHTO codes and state transport guidelines.
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Balance multiple projects with high-quality, on-time deliverables.
