Job summary

Merck & Co. Rahway, NJ is seeking a Senior Principal Scientist specializing in Breast Cancer to lead clinical development strategies for oncology programs. Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with industry experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research.
• Proven track record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate pre-clinical and translational work for early clinical development plans and INDs.
• Develop clinical development strategies for oncology drugs.
• Plan clinical trials, including design, operational plans, and settings.
• Monitor and manage the conduct of ongoing or new clinical trials for oncology drugs.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety and efficacy decisions.
• Participate in internal and external research project teams for new or marketed compounds.
• Supervise the activities of Clinical Scientists in clinical studies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (regulatory, statistics, manufacturing).
• Assist leadership in communicating study progress to internal and external audiences.
• Attend scientific meetings to maintain competency and awareness of research activities.
