Job summary

Western Governors University is seeking a Senior Manager, Brand to lead how the university’s brand appears across nationwide events, media, and the WGU Store/merch program. You will manage a small, diverse team and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to maintain consistent brand expression aligned with institutional strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in brand management, brand marketing, or a related field.
• 3+ years in a people-management role, including managing a functionally diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Set vision and operating strategy for brand elevation, governance, and store/merch functions.
• Lead a team of 3–4 direct reports spanning Brand Elevation, Brand Governance/Policy, and the WGU Store/Merch team.
• Drive initiatives that elevate and evolve brand identity and ensure consistency across channels.
• Oversee the WGU Store and merchandise program, including product strategy and vendor relationships.
• Partner with Finance on budget, inventory, and P&L for store/merch.
• Balance protecting brand integrity with giving internal teams speed and flexibility.
• Monitor governance compliance and report results to the Senior Director.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Content & Social, PR/Communications, Finance, and Academic leadership.
