Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a Senior Engineer – Generation (Boiler) or Senior Generation Equipment Specialist to lead complex boiler and turbine reliability projects. You will plan, inspect, and manage contractor work while ensuring compliance for coded welding and safety standards.

You will drive boiler-tube reduction programs, coordinate inspections, and oversee energy piping repairs, collaborating with maintenance and operations teams to ensure safe and reliable power generation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering accredited program (EAC)
• 7 years of related experience for Sr. Engineer Generation (Boiler)
• 10 years of experience related to Steam Turbine, Combustion Turbine, Boiler, HRSG or Generator maintenance for Senior Generation Equipment Specialist

Responsibilities

• Independently performs complex assignments requiring in-depth analysis to determine solutions.
• Identifies problems and safety improvements to maintain a safe work environment and designs safety into equipment.
• Analyzes problems and recommends solutions with minimal guidance for customer needs.
• Solves complex problems using experience and existing procedures with new approaches.
• Develops technically sound, cost-effective solutions and communicates them clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentors less experienced personnel and fosters cross-functional collaboration.
• Manages project budgets, accruals, and standard contracting processes, ensuring financial controls.
• Supports plant outages and cross-functional coordination to keep generation assets safe and reliable.
