Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) — Medical Research Equipment Support

Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD (100% on-site) | Full-time, W2 | Anticipated start: September 2026 | Contingent upon contract award

About Pacific Research Group LLC

Pacific Research Group LLC provides biomedical, clinical research, and healthcare technology management support services to federal customers. Our leadership brings hands-on military BMET and AAMI CBET-certified experience — you'll be supported by management that has done this job.

Position Summary

Pacific Research Group is seeking a Senior Biomedical and Equipment Inventory/Accountability Technician (BMET) to support the Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC) Biological Defense Research Directorate at Fort Detrick, MD. You will be the dedicated contractor BMET supporting a military medical research laboratory — maintaining research and medical equipment, running the scheduled maintenance program, and managing equipment inventory and accountability in DMLSS.

This is a single-incumbent role with high visibility and direct impact: your work closes a documented maintenance backlog and keeps a Navy research mission running.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Level II scheduled maintenance (inspection, preventive maintenance, calibration, scheduled parts replacement) on medical and research equipment, and document all work in DMLSS
  • Perform electrical safety inspections to verify equipment performance and end-user safety
  • Maintain equipment inventory and accountability records per NAVMED P-5132 and current BUMED logistics guidance; support the annual equipment inventory and monthly GE-R reporting
  • Inspect and accept newly acquired medical, dental, and research equipment against safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and contract requirements
  • Receive, unpack, insure, log, and deliver inventoried equipment; inspect shipments for damage and document discrepancies
  • Monitor manufacturer/vendor warranties and maintenance agreements in DMLSS; enter service contract data (maintenance history, contractor, contract type, cost, contract number, period)
  • Review purchase packages for new or replacement equipment and provide technical feedback
  • Train equipment operators when new makes or models arrive on site
  • Tag equipment for storage or disposition and coordinate DRMO/DLA disposition with property custodians and the Accountable Property Officer
  • Identify and report unlocatable equipment; produce the monthly Unable-to-Locate Equipment Report
  • Contribute to a monthly progress report covering accomplishments, issues, government-furnished property, and upcoming work plans
Required Qualifications
  • One of the following: Military Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) training certificate, a medical equipment manufacturer's training course certificate, or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification
  • Experience interfacing with the military medical research enterprise (military treatment facilities, DoD research labs, or military medical logistics)
  • Working knowledge of DMLSS (or an equivalent medical logistics accounting system) and medical equipment maintenance documentation
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain SECRET eligibility (Tier 3 / SF-86 background investigation) — an active clearance is not required to apply
  • Ability to pass annual occupational health screenings required for laboratory access, including TB screening, formaldehyde surveillance, annual health screen, and animal-associated disease / non-human primate (NHP) screening
  • Ability to work on-site Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day, within command working hours of 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior BMET experience in a Navy or DoD research command, BSL laboratory, or medical logistics department
  • Completion of BUMED Accountable Property Officer (APO) Workshop and Maintenance Workshop (offered post-onboarding if not already held)
  • Experience supporting Joint Commission or MEDIG inspection readiness
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary: $80,000 – $90,000 depending on experience and certifications
  • Federal holidays off; stable Monday–Friday day schedule (no nights, no call)
  • Multi-year engagement: base year plus option years
  • Government-furnished CAC, workspace, tools, and equipment
  • Direct access to company leadership — no layers between you and decisions
