Job summary

Slingshot Bio, Inc. in Emeryville, CA is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to serve as the on-site HR partner to the CEO and leadership team, owning recruiting, onboarding, benefits, HRIS administration, employee records, and compliance.

You will lead performance and engagement programs, ensure California and federal employment law compliance, manage open enrollment, investigations, and policy updates while collaborating with a retained advisor as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of HR generalist/HRBP experience; life sciences, biotech, or other regulated environment a plus.
• Comfortable operating as the sole on-site HR presence, supporting leadership day to day, and using a retained fractional HR advisor as a resource for complex matters.
• Working knowledge of California and federal employment law fundamentals.
• Experience with ATS platforms (Greenhouse preferred) and HRIS systems (NetSuite SuitePeople HR or equivalent).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple day-to-day workstreams.
• Clear, professional communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day benefits, including enrollment, employee questions, and qualifying life event processing, in partnership with the benefits broker and carriers.
• Support annual open enrollment logistics and communications.
• Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS, process employee data changes, and run routine reports for Finance and leadership.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and day-to-day employee relations matters, using the retained fractional HR advisor as a sounding board on complex or high-risk issues.
• Maintain audit-ready HR documentation and support compliance with California, federal, and applicable employment law requirements.
• Support investigations, separations, and related documentation.
• Administer the performance review cycle, including scheduling, tracking completion, and supporting managers with process questions.
• Maintain the Employee Handbook and HR policies, incorporating updates as directed.
• Support employee engagement and culture initiatives, including efforts to strengthen the company's presence.
