Job summary

Aspen Neuroscience, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and operation of complex custom automation systems in a biotech environment. This is an on-site role in Torrey Pines, CA with weekend and holiday work as needed.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scripted protocols, verify plans, troubleshoot root causes, and ensure compliance with GxP and FDA guidelines. Relocation is not available.

Qualifications

• BS in Biomedical, Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in hardware design, automation or biotechnology.

Responsibilities

• Understand system requirements and success criteria for automation systems.
• Develop scripted protocols for machine operation aligned with biological needs.
• Support system integration across hardware and software components.
• Develop and implement verification and validation plans with functional testing.
• Troubleshoot failures and identify root causes to maximize uptime.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and system specs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful project delivery.
