Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Sr. Firmware Engineer to develop world-class firmware for its server hardware. The role involves prototyping concepts, exploring new technologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design robust networking products.

Ideal candidates have extensive firmware experience, strong C/C++ and Java skills, and deep knowledge of Linux, IPMI, EFI BIOS, and device driver development. Location is in San Jose, CA, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS in EE/CS/CE is preferred
• 8+ years of working experience in firmware development
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java
• Experience in Linux OS using source code control systems
• Working knowledge of IPMI firmware vendors (AMI or Aten, etc.) and code structure
• Capability to design, develop for specific IPMI firmware requirements
• Good knowledge of enclosure management protocol and standards
• Excellent system-level debugging skills
• In depth understanding in EFI BIOS firmware is a plus
• Linux and Windows device driver development experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, test, deliver, and document firmware.
• Maintain BMC, CMM and SAS Expander Firmware for Server System.
• Author firmware specifications, develop firmware code, and debug issues.
• Collaborate with hardware design team members.
• Address firmware/software issues during planning, development, and validation.
