Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Bioprocess Engineer to join the advanced manufacturing and development team in Paarl. You will design, optimize, and scale-up biopharmaceutical processes, including fermentation and cell culture, to deliver robust yields in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years in biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of cell culture/fermentation, bioreactor operation, and downstream processing.
• Experience with process scale-up, validation, and cGMP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize upstream bioprocesses (fermentation, cell culture) for biologics production.
• Lead scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement CAPAs.
• Develop and execute process validation protocols and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research, quality assurance, and manufacturing operations.

Requirements
