Job summary

Illumina’s Primary Analysis team designs algorithms and software to detect genomic data from images. The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will develop signal processing methods and bioinformatics tools, optimize performance, and contribute to workflows used by researchers and clinicians worldwide.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in bioinformatics, biology, engineering, computer science, or related field; minimum 6 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement signal processing and bioinformatics algorithms.
• Analyze data and optimize software at the algorithm, design, and code levels.
• Collaborate with external teams to ensure end-to-end workflows with external organizations.
• Develop, debug, and integrate optimized C/C++ software on Linux for multi-threaded applications.
• Provide technical leadership and represent the team at project and executive levels.
