Job summary

Juniper Square seeks a Senior Billing Specialist to manage complex invoice processing, cash applications, and billing workflows. You will collaborate across Fund Admin/CX and Deal Desk, leveraging AI tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy in a fast‑paced SaaS environment.

You will help navigate peak billing cycles, resolve discrepancies, and drive improvements in Zone. A minimum of 4 years in billing with NetSuite‑like systems is expected.

Qualifications

At least 4 years of professional billing experience.
Able to analyze vague contract terms for billing consequences.
Experience with Zone or NetSuite-native billing software; train others.
Proficiency in cash applications and posting payments against invoices.
Familiarity with Salesforce to access contracts, accounts, opportunities.
Experience using AI productivity tools (ChatGPT, Claude).
Background in collections is advantageous.
Team-oriented with ability to guide colleagues.
Strong cross-functional communication and proactive questions.
Experience in Services and SaaS sectors preferred.
Resourceful and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

Review contracts to determine correct billing treatment.
Process invoices and credit memos for complex scenarios.
Guide teammates on invoice processing workflows in Zone.
Review invoices for accuracy before sending to customers.
Respond to billing inquiries with accurate, timely answers.
Match payments to invoices and post them.
Follow up on past-due accounts with Fund Admin/CX.
Monitor AR aging and flag at-risk balances.
Support process improvements and workflow refinements in Zone.
Assist during peak Fund Admin billing cycles (Dec, Mar, Jun, Sep).
Collaborate with Deal Desk on contract structuring and with Fund Admin/CX on billing.

About Your Role

As Juniper Square continues to expand, our billing complexity has intensified, driven by a tripling of transaction and invoice volumes over the last 18 months. We are seeking a Senior Billing Specialist to join our team and help navigate this increased scale. In this hands‑on role reporting directly to the Billing & Collections Manager, you will collaborate closely with team members to ensure invoice accuracy, manage daily cash application, and provide guidance on invoice processing within Zone.

What You’ll Do

Review customer contracts and correspondence, interpreting ambiguous contract language to determine correct billing treatment
Process invoices and credit memos for complex or non-standard billing scenarios
Guide and support teammates on invoice processing workflows within Zone
Review invoices processed by the team for accuracy before sending out to customers
Respond to customer billing inquiries via email, researching and providing accurate answers in a timely manner
Perform daily cash application: match incoming customer payments to invoices and post accordingly
Own follow‑up on past‑due accounts, coordinating escalations with Fund Admin/CX as needed
Monitor AR aging and flag at‑risk balances to the Billing & Collections Manager
Play a key role in ongoing process improvements and workflow refinement within Zone (project‑based work)
Manage increased workload during peak Fund Admin billing cycles (December, March, June, September)
Partner cross‑functionally with Deal Desk on contract structuring, and with Fund Admin/CX on billing and collections
Comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency across billing, cash application, and reporting workflows

Qualifications

At least 4 years of professional billing experience, particularly with intricate billing scenarios
Proven capability to analyze vague contract terms and determine precise billing consequences
Practical familiarity with Zone or equivalent NetSuite‑native billing software, including the ability to train and guide team members
Proficiency in cash and payment applications, including matching and posting customer payments against invoices
Familiarity with Salesforce for navigating and extracting contract, account, and opportunity details
Adept at utilizing AI productivity tools (such as ChatGPT and Claude) to enhance daily workflows
Background in collections is advantageous, though the primary emphasis remains on billing mastery
Collaborative mindset with a strong emphasis on teamwork; comfortable guiding colleagues on workflows without needing a formal title
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with cross‑functional internal stakeholders and a proactive approach to asking clarifying questions
Prior background in the Services and SaaS sectors is preferred.
Highly resourceful with the capability to independently investigate and resolve questions when details are scarce.
Thrives and operates effectively within a high‑speed, dynamic workplace.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, particularly utilizing calculations from the Fund Admin team, is a distinct plus.

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 USD. Actual base salaries will be based on candidate‑specific factors, including experience, skillset, and location, and local minimum pay requirements as applicable.
