Verisign Inc. in Reston, VA is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Architecture and Infrastructure Team. You will design and implement systems to collect, store, and analyze large data sets including DNS, web content, and traffic data.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Java and Python, big data ecosystems, and distributed systems. The role offers a hybrid work schedule in Reston and a competitive base salary with discretionary bonus and stock options.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, or Master's with 10+ years in software development.
8+ years of software development experience in a Unix/Linux environment.
Expert level programming in Java and Python.
Experience with Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive).
Experience with testing and performance tuning of big data jobs.
Experience with cloud environments and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins).

Responsibilities

Apply Big Data solutions to real customer problems using web content and traffic data.
Design, implement, test, and maintain Java/Python software for collecting, storing, and analyzing big data.
Ensure OLAs/SLAs are met in high-volume data processing environments.
Define test approaches and success criteria with architects and developers.
Deliver high-quality, documented solutions with automated builds, tests, and deployment.
Collaborate across cross-functional teams including product, operations, and project management.
Mentor junior engineers and lead by example in a collaborative Agile setting.
Lead incident response for challenging network and distributed-system issues.
