Job summary

Viking is seeking a Senior BI and Data Architect to design, build, and maintain the analytical data platform powering reporting and decision-making. You will enable self-service, AI-powered analytics with a governed semantic layer for natural language queries.

The role is hybrid with base in Woodland Hills, CA, requiring regular onsite collaboration and adherence to the hybrid policy. You will collaborate with business stakeholders and own data models, metrics, and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end BI experience across data engineering, modeling, and reporting.
• SQL – Expert: complex analytical queries, joins, CTEs, window functions and performance tuning.
• Python – Advanced: PySpark/Pandas data transformations and scalable processing.
• DAX – Strong Working Knowledge: time intelligence, trend and variance analysis.
• Power BI: semantic model design and performance optimization.
• Databricks SQL and Unity Catalog – governance, lineage, permissions.
• Dimensional/semantic data modeling with clear keys and relationships.
• Strong data-documentation discipline (descriptions, glossary, certified definitions).
• Experience with financial / accounting data.
• Proven ability to communicate with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own BI solutions across the full data stack from ingestion to semantic models and reports.
• Design scalable BI architectures aligned with enterprise standards.
• Bridge data engineering and business analytics for consistent reporting and AI layer.
• Develop analytical data models (star/snowflake) optimized for reporting and NL querying.
• Build Power BI semantic models with reusable measures on Fabric capacity.
• Develop advanced DAX measures for time intelligence, trends and bookings.
• Curate Databricks Genie domains with clear instructions and verified answers for business users.
• Create and govern Unity Catalog semantic layer and metric views.
• Maintain data descriptions, glossary, and synonyms to map business language to fields.
• Extend conversational analytics into Teams or apps via API.
• Develop data transformations using SQL and Python for clean analytics datasets.
• Apply analytics-engineering practices and data contracts.
