Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field teams for energy storage and associated infrastructure projects. The role requires onsite presence during active work periods to supervise installers, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Applicants should have significant construction supervision experience, preferably with GCs or ECs in BESS or commercial solar.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of construction supervision experience, preferably via GC or EC in BESS or commercial solar.
• Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
• Safety certifications preferred; STS/OSHA 30 recommended.
• Valid driver's license and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Supervise project work and coordinate between engineering, estimating, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure contract compliance.
• Plan work methods, materials, equipment, and production schedules; adjust plans to mitigate risks.
• Review project specs to support setup, execution, inspections, and closeout per requirements.
• Manage site work, site access, and BESS installation activities.
• Coordinate with internal teams, utilities, and regulators for timely deliveries and approvals.
• Promote safety, process control, and documentation standards on site.
• Lead alignment meetings, document activities, and support workforce development.

Job description

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling-keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017,we're delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

The Superintendent's primary responsibility is to lead and oversee project teams in the field, including in-house installers, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with project goals. This role supports the deployment and installation of Redwood Materials energy products such as BESS, associated infrastructure, and solar. To effectively manage operations, the Superintendent must be present onsite daily during active work periods. This hands-on presence enables direct oversight of day-to-day team activities, timely identification of issues, and comprehensive awareness of all onsite developments. In addition, the Manager is accountable for upholding rigorous quality standards and enforcing safe work practices across all project phases. While these oversight functions are essential, the role prioritizes proactive team management and performance optimization.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supervises assigned project work and coordinates between engineering, estimating, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, budget, and schedule.
• Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs, and production schedules while updating forecasts and adjusting work plans to mitigate project risks and production issues.
• Reviews and interprets project specifications to support job setup, construction execution, inspections, and project closeout activities in accordance with company and AHJ requirements.
• Manages site work, site access, medium to low voltage electrical work, and BESS installation
• Coordinates with internal teams, vendors, utilities, and regulatory agencies to ensure proper equipment, materials, inspections, and construction support are delivered on schedule.
• Promotes and enforces strict safety, process control, and documentation standards related to operating equipment, electrical systems, transformers, generators, and overall jobsite operations.
• Leads project alignment meetings, documents project activities, supports workforce development and training needs, and performs additional assignments as directed by management.

Desired Qualifications:

• 12+ years of construction supervision experiencerequired preferably via General Contrator or Electrical Contractor (especially BESS and Commercial Solar Experience)
• Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
• Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• OSHA 30hr certified is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skillsrequired.
• Experience with 3D model reviews, Navisworks, clash reviews preferred. Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data,establishfacts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Willing to travel or relocate to project site for project duration preferred (projects in IL, MI, TX, & future locations)
