Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Case Manager in the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health Social Work Department. The role focuses on case management, intake services, advocacy, and creating individualized care plans to support recovery goals.

Position is grant-funded and contingent on funding continuation. Working hours are 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with a non-exempt status and full-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 36 months of direct experience with persons with mental illness and/or SUD for Level III, plus requisite education.
  • Level II requires 36 months of direct experience or 60 college credits with 12 months experience.
  • Level I requires HS diploma and 6 months behavioral health experience.
  • License or degree options acceptable for progression in qualification levels.
  • OSBI background check and valid Oklahoma driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional case management and intake services to assist clients in treatment.
  • Advocate for clients and assist with referrals and care planning based on recovery goals.
  • Prepare individual care plans and coordinate with treatment teams.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree (any field)
Bachelor's or Master's in Behavioral Health field
Current Oklahoma RN license

About the Position:

This position is fully grant‑funded and is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. Continued employment is dependent on the continuation of funding.

  • Hourly rate: Level III- $23.79; Level II- $22.95; Level I- $21.63

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Level III - Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a minimum of 36 (thirty‑six) months of direct, documented experience working with persons with mental illness and/or substance use disorder and possess a High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or High School equivalency (HSE) Credential and two (2) years of professional experience.

OR The completion of 60 (sixty) college credit hours and a minimum of 12 (twelve) months of direct, documented experience working with persons with mental illness and/or substance use disorder and two (2) years of professional experience.

OR A bachelor’s or master’s degree in any field from a regionally accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and have a minimum of six (6) months of direct, documented experience working with persons with mental illness and/or substance use disorder and two (2) years of professional experience.

OR A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a behavioral health related field earned from a regionally accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and two (2) years of professional experience.

OR Have a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Oklahoma with documented experience in behavioral health care and two (2) years of professional experience.

Level I - Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or High School Equivalency (HSE) Credential and six (6) months of behavioral health experience.

Special Requirements:
  • Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job‑related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

  • Certification as a Certified Behavioral Case Manager will be completed within 30 days of start date with the agency, contingent to training availability.

  • Incumbents must function in accordance with the Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and all other applicable rules, laws, and authorities.

  • Incumbents will adhere to the Professional Standards for Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager (OAC 450:50-7 Rules of Professional Conduct).

About us:

The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH) is a psychiatric hospital accredited by The Joint Commission, dedicated to delivering evidence‑based, patient‑centered care. TCBH provides a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery and enhances quality of life for individuals and the community. The facility serves adults aged 18 and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis, with or without co‑occurring substance use disorders, and who are medically stable.

In response to the increasing need for mental health services in our community, TCBH is being replaced by a new facility, the Oklahoma Psychiatric Care Center (OPCC). Situated in the OSU Academic Medical District in downtown Tulsa, this modern psychiatric hospital will feature 106 inpatient beds, an expanded residency program, and an enhanced range of behavioral health services. Construction of the OPCC is currently in progress.
