Job summary

Aspire Living & Learning in Naugatuck, CT, seeks a Senior Behavior Therapist to support students in an ALL Academy program, applying student-specific educational and behavioral plans under guidance from teachers and board-certified analysts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g., Psychology, Special Education) strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • 1 year experience with individuals with Autism, intellectual disabilities, or other social/behavioral needs
  • 1 year experience in implementing and collecting data related to areas such as School-Wide PBS, Tier Plans, Direct Instruction, Precision Teaching, or other behavior analytic measures
  • Must have satisfactory background checks
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Responsibilities

  • Implement each student’s educational and behavioral programs under supervision from teachers and board-certified behavior analysts
  • Collaborate with School Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Occupational/Physical Therapists
  • Coordinate with Special Education Teachers and other service providers to support student progress
  • Monitor and adjust behavioral plans using data and established measures

Aspire Living & Learning is currently seeking a Senior Behavior Therapist to work out of one of our Approved Private Special Education Programs (ALL Academy) in Naugatuck, CT, providing services to children who have been outplaced to our program due to social, behavioral, and/or academic needs.

Salary: $40,000-$50,000 per year

Hours: M-F 7am-3pm

As a Behavior Therapist, you will work under the guidance of Special Education Teachers and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts to implement each student’s educational and behavioral programs. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with service providers, including School Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Occupational/Physical Therapists.

As aSeniorBehavior Therapist dedicated to supporting children in the school setting,you'llfind yourself immersed in a dynamic and impactful environment.Here'swhat you can expectregardingworking conditions:

  • Primary work is done within the classroom however it is expected that staff willmonitor/work with students during indoor/outdoor physical activities (playground/gym); support students during academic, related service (Speech, OT, PT), and behavioral programming; andassistin toileting if applicable .
  • This role mayencounterchallenging behaviors and situations, requiring patience, empathy, and effective behavior management strategies and the ability to perform Physical Management Techniques (PMT) as needed.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job , including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • May berequiredto travel.

Working conditions may vary depending on the specific classroom, and the assigned children’s needs.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 months exemplary performance as a Behavior Therapist with Aspire or at least 12 months exemplary performance as a behavior therapist with another ABA provider.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g., Psychology, Special Education) strongly preferred

  • 1 year experience with individuals with Autism, intellectual disabilities, or other social/behavioral needs
