Job summary

Peak Energy Technologies Inc. in Burlingame, CA is seeking a Senior Cell Modeling & Analytics Engineer to develop predictive models and data analytics for sodium-ion cells.

You will tackle life prediction, thermal and ECM modeling, and 3D battery simulations to push performance and reliability. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in battery modeling, strong Python skills, and experience with large data sets and visualization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in battery modeling and battery data analysis.
• Deep understanding of lithium-ion and/or sodium-ion battery technologies, including failure mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with thermal/heat-generation modeling, ECM modeling, and physics-based electrochemical modeling.
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, modeling, statistics, and machine learning.
• Experience with large datasets, statistical analysis, and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and refine battery life models to predict cell life and performance.
• Create thermal and heat-generation models at the cell level to characterize temperature and thermal behavior.
• Build and parameterize ECMs for prediction and SOC/SOH estimation for system-level simulations.
• Develop physics-based models to capture transport, kinetics, and degradation mechanisms.
• Construct 3D battery models for spatially resolved simulations across geometries.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and assess model accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data and models into product-level simulations.
• Develop data analysis algorithms using Python and create dashboards to communicate findings.
• Assist in root-cause analysis of battery failures and contribute to design improvements.
• Continuously research advancements in battery tech and modeling methods.
