Overview

Senior Battery Engineering Manager — We’re seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow a product and test engineering team at the forefront of advanced battery technology. This role is central to ensuring products move seamlessly from R&D to commercialization, meeting the highest standards of certification, safety, and customer performance. Acting as the key link between engineering, operations, and commercial teams, you’ll drive execution across product development, new product introduction (NPI), and market delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate customer-specific testing and certification programs, ensuring compliance with government and commercial standards.
  • Drive execution of new product introduction (NPI) efforts, from prototype through scale-up, aligning engineering, manufacturing, and commercial functions.
  • Oversee product validation, electrochemical testing, and safety certification to support customer deliverables, internal requirements, and outgoing quality control.
  • Own shipping processes for advanced materials and battery cells, including documentation, risk management, and adherence to global regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Commercial teams to support technical pricing discussions, contribute to proposals, and strengthen long-term customer partnerships.
  • Design and analyze experiments to optimize performance and accelerate delivery timelines.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of engineers, providing clear career growth and continuous feedback.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including investors and customers.
  • Foster a collaborative, rigorous, and inclusive engineering culture where accountability and cross-functional execution are core values.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in battery engineering, product development, or energy storage R&D.
  • Proven track record leading technical teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong foundation in electrochemical testing, product validation, or systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with certification and shipping requirements for advanced energy products.
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex technical concepts to customers and cross-functional partners.
  • Skilled in managing multi-stakeholder projects spanning engineering, operations, and commercial groups.
  • Familiarity with testing tools and lab instrumentation (battery cyclers, safety test equipment).
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration software (e.g., Asana, Notion, Trello).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience scaling products from early-stage R&D to commercial readiness.
  • Knowledge of international certification and shipping standards (e.g., UN 38.3).
  • Exposure to customer-facing technical roles, pricing discussions, or sales engineering.
  • Expertise with polymer electrolytes, advanced materials, or lithium-ion systems.
  • Data analysis experience with Python or JMP for experimental validation.
