Otter Grow is seeking a backend generalist in Los Angeles to design and scale services powering direct ordering and merchant tools. You will build scalable backend systems, APIs, and collaborate with frontend teams to deliver reliable experiences.
Requirements include a BS in CS or equivalent, 3+ years of software engineering, and strong knowledge of backend design, databases, and cloud platforms. Java/Go and microservices experience preferred.

At Otter Grow, we are a fast‑paced, product‑focused engineering team building the future of Direct‑to‑Consumer (D2C) dining. Otter Grow provides the end‑to‑end platform for direct ordering, merchant storefront configurations, and hyper‑targeted customer engagement.
As a backend generalist on this team, you will design and scale the services that power our customizable front‑end web experiences, facilitate direct ordering, and advanced merchant tools, ensuring a seamless experience for customers.
This role is based in our Los Angeles office. All office‑based teams work onsite, five days a week. You will need to be present in the office daily.
The base salary range for this role is $167,000 - $230,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance‑based bonus.
