Job summary

The Walt Disney Company, through Disney Experiences Technology, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own backend services across PHP, Go, and Java/Spring, shaping a scalable, reliable POS platform used by thousands of Cast Members.

You will lead technical direction, drive modernization, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and operations to deliver high‑quality, observable systems with AI tooling integration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in backend design, build and operations for large systems.
• Hands-on PHP 8+ and Go microservices experience.
• Java/Spring leadership and migration project exposure.
• Strong RDBMS knowledge with Aurora/MySQL experience.
• Experience with AWS services and container orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and personally build scalable backend services and APIs across PHP, Go, and Java/Spring.
• Set architecture direction and ensure clean integration with Disney systems.
• Drive modernization of PHP/Go toward Java/Spring with clear migration patterns.
• Own full SDLC: planning, design reviews, testing, CI/CD, releases, and post-incident analysis.
• Mentor backend engineers, review designs, and foster engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with product, QA, hardware/terminal teams and vendors.
