Job summary

Waymo is seeking a backend engineer to scale the Waymo Driver trip platform across ride-hailing and delivery, supporting both internal and external partners and ensuring broad access to Waymo technology.

The role emphasizes low-latency, large-scale distributed systems, API design, and C++ development. A BS in CS with 3+ years of backend experience is preferred; remote-friendly US location with competitive pay and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience programming backend applications and APIs.
• Experience building backend services and API design.
• Preference for C++ and distributed systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement and scale Waymo's core trip platform for multiple high-growth use cases.
• Design and implement partner-facing API services for trip requests, pricing, and times.
• Collaborate with external partners to build experiences on 3rd party platforms.
• Develop expertise in Google technologies and internal systems.
