Job summary

Turnitin, a remote-first tech company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer - Backend Services to design, implement, and maintain scalable serverless backends on AWS Lambda. You’ll craft RESTful APIs, optimize performance and costs, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with QA, Product, UX and Support.

You’ll work with AWS Lambda, API Gateway and DynamoDB, apply microservices patterns, and own CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Node.js (Java preferred).
• Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB.
• Understanding of serverless architectures and microservices.
• Experience with CI/CD and Git.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend services using AWS Lambda.
• Design RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
• Optimize performance and cost of existing services.
• Collaborate with QA, Product, UX, and Support.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews.
