Job summary

Bluesky is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to build and maintain the infrastructure powering moderation, anti-spam, and user safety. You will work with internal ops and product teams to deliver high-scale services for rapid abuse prevention.

The role emphasizes design and implementation of pipelines, ETLs, and backend scaling, with a strong focus on data infrastructure and observability. This is a fully remote position with PST overlap and a possible Seattle onsite component.

Qualifications

• Must have 10+ years of extensive experience with Go.
• Strong fundamentals in programming and software engineering.
• Built scalable backend systems (1M+ ops/sec).
• Experience with databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite).
• Experience with data stores (Scylla/Cassandra, Redis, ClickHouse).
• Experience with search systems (Elasticsearch).
• Experience in social app infrastructure at large scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-volume pipelines and databases.
• Manage and create ETLs powering automated abuse-prevention.
• Assist with scaling backends for internal tools.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate safety systems.
• Develop monitoring and observability for data infrastructure.
