Job summary

Datasite is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the design, delivery, and operation of reliable Python-based APIs for a meeting-management product. You will focus on scalable architecture, performance, observability, and safe delivery while collaborating with frontend, mobile, product, design, and platform teams.

You will mentor engineers, participate in design reviews, and promote best practices through pairing, talks, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Expert Python experience with Django and REST Framework.
• Strong REST API design and versioning knowledge.
• Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL skills, with tuning and partitioning.
• Experience with Celery and RabbitMQ or similar message brokers.
• Redis caching with cache-aside patterns and eviction strategies.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate robust APIs and services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Lead architectural improvements for data models, service boundaries, messaging, and zero-downtime migrations.
• Collaborate with platform engineers on containerized infrastructure and delivery safety.
• Write and maintain tests, diagnose production issues, and prevent regressions via profiling and tracing.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, talks, and documentation.
• Shape practical solutions and well-designed APIs across teams.
