Job summary

Capital One seeks a Lead Software Engineer, Backend (IC) to drive a portfolio of distributed microservices and cloud-based solutions. You will mentor engineers, contribute code when needed, and collaborate with product managers to deliver scalable systems for millions of customers.

Required: Bachelor's degree, 4+ years in software engineering, 1+ year cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP). Master’s and 7+ years in relevant languages are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply).
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
• Masters degree is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in Java, Python, Go, or Node.js is preferred.
• 2+ years of AWS, GCP, or Azure experience is preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks is preferred.
• 1+ years of people management experience is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and participate in code reviews when needed.
• Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver cloud-based solutions at scale for millions of users.
• Utilize Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and various databases and container technologies in AWS environments.
