PTR Global is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Phoenix to strengthen Digital Banking services with secure microservices, APIs, and scalable systems.

The role focuses on delivering high-volume, reliable backend software, employing Kafka, distributed architectures, and observability. You'll mentor engineers, influence design, and partner with product and operations to deliver customer-facing financial capabilities while maintaining production readiness.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong backend engineering with Java and frameworks.
• Experience with distributed systems and scalable services.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON/XML, API lifecycles.
• CI/CD with Jenkins and Maven/Gradle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for high volume, secure, scalable banking platforms.
• Lead distributed systems design including decomposition, asynchronous comms, fault tolerance, and backpressure.
• Build Java microservices, REST APIs, batch jobs, and event-driven workflows.
• Contribute to workflow orchestration practices across services.
• Hands-on design and development in an agile team, driving architecture and quality.
• Ensure platforms are scalable, observable, reliable, and meet SLAs.
• Design testable, maintainable solutions for long-term operation.
• Participate in design and code reviews and cross-enterprise initiatives.
• Collaborate with product/architecture/ops to translate capabilities into solutions.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
