Job summary

Oracle Health is seeking a Principal Backend Developer to advance clinical applications engineering. The role focuses on scalable backend services, distributed systems, and cloud-native EHR infrastructure to modernize provider workflows and clinical messaging.

The candidate will lead design discussions, mentor engineers, and own end-to-end delivery—from concept through production—driving observability and performance, while collaborating with product managers and TPMs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 7-9+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience developing enterprise-scale backend systems using Java, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications in modern engineering environments.
• Proven experience serving as a technical lead, leading projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud-native backend services for clinical applications.
• Lead technical design discussions and guide long-term platform strategy.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design reviews.
• Own services across the full development lifecycle from requirements to production support.
• Improve observability, reliability, and performance of critical healthcare workflows.
