Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join a cloud-native development team in Tempe. You will design, build, and operate scalable APIs and microservices within an AWS serverless environment, supporting mobile apps, portals, websites, internal systems, and third-party integrations.

This hands-on role focuses on backend work (about 80%) with opportunities to mentor junior developers, lead projects, and influence architecture.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
5+ years of software development experience; 6-8 preferred.
Strong AWS Serverless and microservices experience.
Experience with Python and/or Node.js.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
SQL and NoSQL database experience.
Proven ability to lead projects and mentor team members.
Recent U.S.-based project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and microservices on AWS
Develop cloud-native applications using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and related services
Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders on technical solutions
Gather requirements, provide project updates, and translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Support testing, UAT, deployments, and CI/CD processes
Lead projects, mentor junior developers, and perform code reviews
