Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a backend-focused Senior Software Engineer to join our cloud-native platform on Google Cloud Platform. You will design, develop, and maintain microservices and production systems with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and performance.

The right candidate will work closely with architects and senior engineers to implement technical strategies, build data pipelines, and enable AI-driven capabilities such as intelligent search and recommendations while following responsible

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering lifecycle experience.
• 3+ years building cloud-native applications (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• 4+ Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go, focusing on backend/API development.
• 2+ years designing and developing microservices with API design and event-driven patterns.
• Experience with AI development tools like Claude/Curousr/OpenCode/Codex.
• Experience with search technologies such as ElasticSearch/OpenSearch/Solr/Lucene.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Splunk) for production support.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to scalable microservices architectures including APIs and event-driven systems.
• Develop and maintain backend services with focus on scalability, resiliency, performance.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to implement cloud-native strategies.
• Build data pipelines to support real-time and batch processing.
• Enable AI-driven features like search, recommendations, and decision-support systems.
• Contribute to search systems with Elastic/OpenSearch/Solr.
