Job summary

Alaffia Health is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in New York to own backend systems for our claims review platform. You will design data-intensive, production-grade services, and work with cross-functional teams to elevate architecture while applying AI-augmented development practices.

Proficiency in Python or TypeScript is expected, with strong fundamentals and the ability to learn new languages. This role is on-site in NYC with competitive compensation and equity.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of software engineering experience with backend ownership.
• Hands-on with relational databases and data model design.
• Cloud infra experience (AWS), CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiar with AI coding assistants and automated workflows.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own delivery of backend systems supporting our claim review platform.
• Contribute to technical direction and coding/design standards for the team.
• Adopt and champion AI coding tools in daily workflow.
• Collaborate with and mentor other engineers, sharing knowledge.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, data, DevOps, and business teams.
• Contribute to testing strategy, system health, observability, and infrastructure decisions.
