Job summary

Sage AI Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the checkout agents and the end-to-end infrastructure that enables live transactions across the web. You will design, deploy, monitor, and support systems that operate around the clock in collaboration with the CTO.

You’ll tackle ingestion at scale and building robust search and ranking capabilities using embedding-based retrieval and LLM understanding, while handling changing data sources and traffic patterns.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend and infrastructure systems, with strong Python.
• Own production systems end to end: deploys, databases, observability, and the pager.
• Adversarial problems where something on the other side is actively working against you.
• You take correctness seriously because real customer money is at stake.
• Able to move without a finished spec; roadmaps shift with market needs.

Responsibilities

• Own our checkout agents: architecture, code, deploys, monitoring, and on-call.
• Ingestion at scale: integrate hundreds to thousands of sources with self-validating infra.
• Search and ranking: embedding-based retrieval, LLM query understanding, reranking.
