Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional software initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of backend concepts: distributed systems, scalability, and performance.
• Proficient in modern typed languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Scala, C#, Go, Rust, TS).
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven architectures.
• Proficient in AWS and cloud-native engineering with multiple AWS services listed in the ad.
• Experience with testing, CI/CD, observability, and production incident handling.
• Ability to create technical documentation and architectural diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build backend services, distributed systems, event-driven apps, and streaming solutions.
• Own major initiatives from discovery to production rollout and support.
• Balance new features with modernization, reliability, and debt reduction.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations teams.
• Develop and communicate technical proposals and trade-offs.
• Lead architecture reviews and design discussions for complex initiatives.
• Design APIs, microservices, and cloud-native services that evolve with product needs.
• Evaluate existing capabilities before introducing new solutions; align with enterprise architecture.
• Create PoC solutions and evolve them into production-ready capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership across onshore and offshore teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Establish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and operational readiness.
• Produce clear system designs, runbooks, and engineering documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement across development, deployment, and support.
