Job summary

OKX is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to design, build, and scale the backend systems powering OKX’s DEX trading products. You’ll own critical parts of the trading lifecycle—from quote discovery to reconciliation—with opportunities to grow into technical leadership.

This hands-on role requires ownership and strong collaboration with product, frontend, smart contract, and infra teams. 5+ years in backend engineering, deep Java experience, and a solid grasp of concurrency and distributed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java and its backend ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, distributed systems, relational databases, caching, and messaging systems.
• Experience building high-availability services and diagnosing performance/reliability issues in production.
• Understanding of blockchain transactions, smart contract interactions, and DeFi trading mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services for quote aggregation, order management, and execution tracking.
• Build reliable integrations with DEX protocols, liquidity sources, and indexing services.
• Define robust order/transaction state models with retry and failure handling.
• Ensure reliability under high concurrency and degraded external dependencies.
• Implement rate limiting, concurrency controls, and graceful degradation.
• Optimize database access, caching, and asynchronous processing.
• Establish monitoring, testing, and incident-response practices for trading flows.
• Support trading workflows across multiple blockchain ecosystems.
• Handle submission, confirmation tracking, failed or dropped transactions, and chain reorganizations.
• Build data reconciliation mechanisms between backend and on-chain records.
