About the Role
EdgeByte is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer – Networking to architect, implement, secure, and optimize Microsoft Azure and hybrid-cloud networking environments supporting enterprise and mission-critical workloads.
This role requires deep hands‑on experience with Azure networking, enterprise routing, network security, hybrid connectivity, application delivery, and network observability. The engineer will design and support hub‑and‑spoke architectures, VNets, routing, segmentation, ExpressRoute, VPN connectivity, Azure Firewall, F5, SD-WAN, and other enterprise networking technologies.
The engineer will work across cloud, cybersecurity, identity, application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues and translate business, security, and technical requirements into scalable, supportable, and production‑ready network architectures.
Reponsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and sustain secure Microsoft Azure and hybrid-cloud networking environments.
- Design hub‑and‑spoke, landing‑zone, VNet, peering, routing, segmentation, and hybrid connectivity architectures.
- Engineer VNets, UDRs, NSGs, Private Link, Private DNS, ExpressRoute, VPN, BGP, and forced‑tunneling solutions.
- Configure and support Azure Firewall, network virtual appliances, load balancers, Application Gateway, and related Azure networking services.
- Integrate and support enterprise networking and security platforms including F5 BIG‑IP, Versa SD‑WAN/Secure SD‑WAN, Cisco, and NGFW technologies.
- Design secure ingress, egress, east‑west traffic flows, network segmentation, and Zero Trust connectivity controls.
- Support application delivery, load balancing, TLS/SSL inspection, reverse proxy, and secure application‑access architectures.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using packet captures, full packet capture, flow telemetry, route analysis, firewall logs, BGP state, and Azure‑native diagnostic tools.
- Troubleshoot asymmetric routing, SNAT exhaustion, route propagation, overlapping networks, DNS, connectivity, and performance issues.
- Develop reusable Terraform Infrastructure as Code modules and standardized network deployment patterns.
- Produce architecture diagrams, implementation plans, network/security documentation, runbooks, and as‑built configurations.
- Lead technical design reviews, implementation efforts, troubleshooting sessions, and network modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with cloud, cybersecurity, ICAM, application, DevOps, and infrastructure engineering teams.
- Apply Zero Trust, least privilege, segmentation, defense‑in‑depth, and network‑security principles across customer environments.
Required Qualifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- 8+ years of enterprise infrastructure, networking, cloud, or network‑security engineering experience.
- 4+ years of hands‑on Microsoft Azure or cloud networking engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, routing, switching, subnetting, NAT, VPN, segmentation, and enterprise WAN architectures.
- Strong experience with Azure VNets, peering, UDRs, NSGs, Private Link, Private DNS, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, and Azure Firewall.
- Experience designing and operating hub‑and‑spoke, landing‑zone, hybrid‑cloud, and multi‑network Azure architectures.
- Experience with enterprise network‑security technologies including NGFWs, network segmentation, secure ingress/egress, and Zero Trust principles.
- Hands‑on experience with F5 BIG‑IP, including LTM, application delivery, load balancing, or comparable application‑delivery technologies.
- Experience with SD‑WAN technologies such as Versa, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or comparable enterprise platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting complex environments using packet capture, flow telemetry, routing tables, firewall logs, BGP analysis, and Azure Network Watcher or Monitor tools.
- Understanding of high availability, asymmetric routing, SNAT, forced tunneling, route propagation, and network resiliency concepts.
- Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, PowerShell, Azure CLI, APIs, or similar network automation technologies.
- Ability to develop architecture diagrams, technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
- Strong technical communication skills and ability to independently lead complex engineering efforts.
- U.S. work authorization and ability to satisfy customer‑specific access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience supporting Azure Government IL4/IL5 environments.
- Advanced F5 APM/LTM, Entra ID SSO, CAC/PIV, SAML, OIDC, Kerberos, or legacy application integration experience.
- Advanced Versa SD‑WAN and Versa security experience.
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones, NVAs, high‑availability designs, asymmetric routing, SNAT, and forced tunneling.
- Experience with PKI, certificate management, TLS decryption, full packet capture, NDR, or network observability platforms.
- Relevant Microsoft Azure, F5, Versa, Cisco, or network/security certifications.
