Job summary

Smart IT Frame LLC is seeking a Senior AWS Administrator to own the health, security, and performance of our AWS environment while administering NiFi clusters that power data pipelines.

The role spans cloud infrastructure and data-flow orchestration, collaborating with data engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver scalable, secure NiFi deployments and resilient operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience administering AWS cloud infrastructure in production.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Apache NiFi, including cluster setup, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Auto Scaling.
• Experience with NiFi security hardening (TLS, Keycloak/LDAP integration, access policies).
• Proficiency with Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs).
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar).
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation and troubleshooting.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting production and non-production environments.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer Apache NiFi clusters, including node scaling, flow deployment, and cluster health monitoring.
• Manage NiFi security configuration, including TLS/SSL certificates, user authentication, access policies, and secure communication between nodes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve NiFi processor, connection, and cluster-level issues, including performance bottlenecks and back-pressure conditions.
• Implement and maintain IAM roles, security groups, and least-privilege access controls across AWS accounts.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively identify and remediate infrastructure and pipeline issues.
• Support patching, OS hardening, and lifecycle management for EC2 instances hosting NiFi and related services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to support NiFi flow development, deployment pipelines, and data validation processes.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents affecting AWS infrastructure or NiFi services.
• Maintain documentation for system configurations, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure compliance with internal security and data protection standards across AWS and NiFi environments.
