Job summary

VSO Inc. is seeking an AWS Data Engineer to join our team in the DC Metro Area. You will design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, Python, SQL, and AWS services like Glue, Redshift, and EMR to deliver secure, reliable data solutions, with a focus on data lakes and warehouses.

You must have 5+ years of data engineering experience (3+ with AWS), be eligible for U.S. citizenship, and hold an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or ETL development.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, EMR).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Build and optimize data solutions using AWS services such as Glue, S3, Lambda, Redshift, EMR, Athena, and Step Functions.
• Develop data processing jobs in Python, PySpark, and SQL with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Model data for data lakes and data warehouses, including schema design, partitioning, and cataloging.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, logging, and alerting for production pipelines.
• Apply security and compliance best practices (IAM, encryption, least privilege) appropriate for a federal environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and document solutions.
