Job summary

Astrion seeks an Avionics Integration Engineer (Principal/SME) to join the Wright-Patterson AFB team in Ohio, supporting the F-15 FMS avionics program. The role focuses on hardware/software integration, system sustainment, and cross-functional collaboration with government and contractor teams.

Candidates should have senior-level leadership experience in fighter platforms, thorough DoD knowledge, and the ability to travel 10-25%.

Qualifications

• BS and 25 years of experience, 15 of which must be in the DoD; or
• MS and 20 years of experience, 12 of which must be in the DoD; and
• an ABET-accredited BS or MS degree in engineering
• Leadership experience in wide/varied operational and test organizations and fighter platforms.
• Have working knowledge of ITAR and foreign disclosure processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for existing, modified, and new LRU hardware and software design, integration, and sustainment across mission systems, sensors, air vehicle systems, subsystems, and aircraft operations.
• Support program engineering and test and evaluation activities by attending meetings, participating in reviews, preparing technical materials, delivering briefings, documenting outcomes, and supporting planning and execution efforts.
• Perform engineering review and analysis of contractor proposals, technical documentation, ECPs, acquisition documents, export licenses, and related materials in support of USAF and FMS airframe, systems, and subsystem requirements.
• Lead and coordinate engineering and T&E tasks across program delivery, training, operations, maintenance, infrastructure, sustainment, developmental alternatives, flight test activities, anomaly tracking, and test documentation review.
• Coordinate with Government stakeholders, prime contractors, DCMA, subcontractors, flight crews, and developmental/operational test managers to ensure compliance with DoD/USAF test planning, execution, airworthiness, and safety requirements.
• Provide FMS and security assistance expertise across acquisition planning, execution, delivery, sustainment, program closure, LOA implementation, policy compliance, technical requirements, and coordination with DoD, non-DoD, and international stakeholders.

Required Qualifications / Skills

Education

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

• Leadership experience in wide/varied operational and test organizations and fighter/bomber platforms; operational experience as a pilot or weapons system operator in a test environment; 4th generation fighter aircraft, systems, and subsystems familiarity; the ability to travel frequently for program reviews and/or site visits; and other airframe, system and sub-system Contractor, test range and laboratory, or customer locations as directed/required.
• Have working knowledge of the ITAR and foreign disclosure processes. The Contractor shall understand the Congressional notification and RIP/RIS approval process and support the Government in working through these processes.
