Rocket Lab Optical Systems seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer II to lead the avionics hardware lifecycle for its electro‑optical systems based in Tucson, AZ. You will design, prototype, test, and integrate complex electronics including FPGA, microcontrollers, and VPX modules, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of electrical hardware design experience.
• Ability to develop blank-sheet design concepts.
• Experience in PCBA design with FPGAs.
• Knowledge of processors, FPGAs, switch-mode power supplies, interfaces and analog instrumentation.
• Strong background in analog electronics design.
• Proficiency in circuit analyses using SPICE and Excel.
• U.S. citizenship required for program eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Own complete lifecycle of avionics hardware for command and control of EO systems.
• Lead architecture decisions to advance EO sensor capabilities across missions.
• Design and integrate electronics including FPGA, MCU, ADC/DAC, and VPX at module level.
• Develop payload-level designs with motor controllers, processing units, imagers, and cryptographic devices.
• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
• Support design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
