Trillium Professional seeks a Senior Fuel Equipment and Auxiliary Engineer for a direct-hire role in Marlborough, MA. The position focuses on design of combustion system equipment including burners, valves, heaters, and associated subsystems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 85 and B31.1 and coordinating vendor RFQ packages.

Required is a BS in Engineering and 8+ years in related roles with experience in combustion systems, valve sizing, and equipment specs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
  • 8+ years in similar industry with project/design engineering background.
  • Experience sizing and specifying valves.
  • Experience in combustion system design for utility/industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 85 and ASME B31.1 codes.
  • PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analyses using hand calculations, spreadsheets, engineering standards, or advanced tools.
  • Provide analysis results in written and drawn formats (reports, drawings, sketches, spreadsheets, presentations).
  • Provide leadership by mentoring staff and developing new techniques and procedures.
  • Prepare organized, well-written reports detailing assumptions, steps, and results.
  • Coordinate vendor/equipment design; review drawings and documents to maintain quality and schedule.
  • Prepare equipment and system specifications and purchasing documents.
  • Submit equipment/vendor evaluations and recommendations.

Job description

Trillium Professional is now seeking a Senior Fuel Equipment and Auxiliary Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity in Marlborough, MA!

Annual salary is $150-180K and this is an onsite position.

The Sr. Fuel Equipment / Auxiliary Engineer is responsible for design of combustion system equipment including burners, valves, heaters, filters, hoses, and their ancillary sub systems. This includes systems design in accordance with NFPA 85 and B31.1 codes, generation of equipment /valve lists and specifications, predation and review of vendor RFQ packages, and vendor oversight.

Essential Functions
  • Perform appropriate and accurate engineering analyses using hand calculations, spreadsheet programs, Engineering Standards, or advanced analysis tools.
  • Provide analysis and results in an effective form (written, marked up drawings, sketches, spreadsheets, presentation, as required) on work performed.
  • Provide leadership by learning, developing, and coordinating new techniques, standardizing procedures, and providing technical instruction and mentoring to department staff.
  • Provide organized and well-written reports to describe assumptions, steps taken, and results from work performed.
  • Identify/develop and use tools and techniques that improve the accuracy and/or efficiency of Department and project work.
  • Coordinate vendor/equipment design and engineering details. Review drawings and documents, maintaining quality and schedule.
  • Prepare equipment and system specifications.
  • Prepare equipment purchasing engineering documents
  • Prepare equipment, vendor technical evaluations and submit recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a similar or related industry, with a background in areas such as project engineering, product design, or design engineering.
  • Experience sizing, specifying valves (control, regulating, actuated, manual, etc.)
  • Experience sizing and specifying equipment as well as out together bid review packages
  • Experience in combustion system design, including coal, natural gas, oil, or related fuel systems for utility and/or industrial applications. This includes burners and fuel delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and NFPA 85 codes and product application requirements.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license Preferred
