Job summary

Zipline is building the world’s largest autonomous logistics system. We are seeking a deeply technical software engineer to join the Autonomy Validation team, creating the infrastructure and tools that enable simulation at scale and rigorous scenario testing across planning, perception, and control.

You will ship with confidence by developing robust internal platforms for validation, supporting autonomy engineers with scalable test tooling and data-driven validation workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building software for simulation, testing, or safety validation.
• Proficient in C++, Rust, or C, with Python as a plus for tooling.
• Hands-on experience with simulation systems for robotics or autonomous systems.
• Experience building tools, platforms, or infrastructure used by other engineers.
• Understanding validation methodologies, metrics, and testing complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and own infrastructure for validating autonomous features and system performance.
• Design and develop simulation tools and scenario generation for large-scale testing.
• Develop tools for validation and testing that plug into our internal stack.
• Create scalable, reliable solutions for running and tracking thousands of validation tasks.
• Collaborate with autonomy engineers, systems/data engineers, and QA teams.
• Establish best practices for software release validation and documentation.
