Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own behavior and motion planning for autonomous driving. You will design, implement, and validate planning features, working across the autonomy stack with teams in Prediction, Controls, Perception, ML, and Safety.

Production-quality C++ software and mentoring responsibilities are included. The role emphasizes safe, comfortable, and efficient decision-making in complex driving scenarios, with a focus on production-grade autonomy

Qualifications

• Experience in behavior planning, motion planning, or related autonomy areas.
• Strong software engineering skills, preferably in C++.
• Experience building autonomy software in production environments.
• Ability to debug autonomy behavior using logs, metrics, and simulation.
• Strong system-level judgment around safety and deployment readiness.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve behavior and motion planning features.
• Own planning projects from problem definition through deployment.
• Debug autonomy behavior using logs, simulation, and real-world data.
• Balance safety, comfort, progress, and operational constraints in the planning system.
• Collaborate with Prediction, Controls, Perception, ML, Simulation, Systems, and Safety teams.
• Write production-quality C++ software and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers.
