Carvana in Old Hickory, TN is seeking an Automotive Technician, Inspection to drive the customer experience by performing the 150-point vehicle inspection. You'll identify issues early, document imperfections, and verify controls and features to ensure each car meets our quality standards.

Ideal candidates bring at least 6 months of automotive technician experience or a trade school background, a positive team attitude, and ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

About The Team And Position

As a Technician, Inspection, you will have the opportunity to drive the customer experience through working at one of our Inspection Centers that help recondition the vehicles we sell to our customers. This role will be responsible for conducting the initial inspection on our vehicles to look for any imperfections or repairs that may be needed throughout the reconditioning process to ensure each vehicle meets Carvana’s vehicle quality standards. The qualifying candidate must love helping people and possess the drive to achieve superior customer satisfaction. They must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization. The Technician, Inspection, will report to the Line Lead, Inspection, and will be an hourly full-time position. No travel is required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform technician services such as routine 150 point inspections/maintenance.
• Record imperfections found during the initial inspection process.
• Notate and test all controls and features on the vehicles including back-up cameras, lane

department

• Follow proper operating rules, procedures, and standardized work initiatives as assigned.
• Work on a variety of vehicle tasks for extended periods of time.
• Partner and provide clear communication with other team members and departments involved

in the vehicle reconditioning process

• Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized

throughout the Inspection department

• Report any safety issues or accidents to management immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Should Know

This position requires a minimum of 6 months of Automotive Technician experience or an automotive trade school degree and requires someone with an entry-level understanding of vehicle repair while having an interest in continuing a career as a Technician in the automotive industry.

• Minimum 6 months of Automotive Technician experience including basic inspections

• Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools

• An ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment while sometimes

being exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold)

• Strong communication skills to engage with all departments at the Inspection Center

Physical demands

• This job position is designated as a safety-sensitive position
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder

• Requires standing for an extended period of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking

and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet

and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance

• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
• Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles,

non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments and equipment

• Requires frequent driving and some typing
• Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance
