Job summary

Sun Auto Tire & Service is seeking a Senior Automotive Technician in Houma, LA to ensure repairs are performed correctly by qualified technicians and to diagnose and repair customer vehicles efficiently. The role follows MAP guidelines and company standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing vehicles, performing multi-point inspections, and explaining needed repairs to customers. Candidates should have automotive technician experience or ASE certifications and a valid driver’s license; high

• Previous automotive technician / mechanic experience required.
• ASE certifications in lieu of experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized equipment for diagnostics.
• Valid Driver’s license in the work State (out-of-state licenses must be transferred within 30 days).
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical School experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses vehicles according to certification/experience level.
• Performs work as outlined on inspection/repair orders with efficiency and accuracy.
• Performs complex and heavy-duty repairs.
• Explains diagnoses and repairs to customers and team.
• Recommends necessary services and documents recommendations in the customer file.
• Follows safety procedures and reports concerns to supervisor.

Delta World Tire is one of the area’s largest independent tire dealers, with over 30,000 tires in stock. In addition to tires, Delta World Tire offers complete quality automotive repair and preventative maintenance. Our ASE certified technicians will be happy to help you on a wide range of services including alignments, brake repair, oil changes, batteries, shocks and struts, belts and hoses, and air conditioning.

The Senior Automotive Technician ensures that repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer satisfaction. They are also responsible for effectively and efficiently diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles while adhering to the MAP guidelines and in accordance with dealership, manufacturers, and Delta World Tire & Service standards.

Compensation: Up to $45 flag rate

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnoses vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
• Performs work as outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy
• Performs complex and heavy-duty repairs
• Explains technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include the Store Manager, Service Consultants and/or customers
• Recommends services that are necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; properly documents all recommendations in customer file
• Follows all safety procedures and reports any concerns to direct supervisor
• Adheres to Sun Auto’s core values, all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Ability to work flexible schedules, Monday - Friday

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The Senior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required when working in these conditions.

The Senior Automotive Technician must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
