Job summary

Sun Auto Tire & Service in Las Cruces, NM seeks a Senior Automotive Technician to perform advanced diagnostic work, tackle complex mechanical and electrical repairs, and mentor junior technicians. You will work to manufacturer and MAP standards, communicate repair outcomes, and contribute to a culture of quality and safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive technician experience diagnosing and repairing across vehicle systems.
• Advanced diagnostic capability using scan tools, meters, and service information.
• ASE certifications appropriate to assigned work, or equivalent demonstrated competency.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.
• State Inspector License or ability to obtain as required by the store.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough Digital Vehicle and Multi-Point Inspections with measurements, notes, photos, and safety findings.
• Lead diagnosis of complex mechanical, electrical, drivability, intermittent, and comeback concerns.
• Complete advanced electrical, drivability, and major mechanical repairs to standards.
• Validate repairs with road tests, relearns/resets, and safety checks to prevent repeat failures.
• Support quality control by verifying repairs and flagging process gaps.
• Explain repair options and outcomes clearly to Managers and Service Advisors.
• Help explain complex issues to customers to build trust.
• Mentor and coach other technicians on diagnostic and repair best practices.
• Model safe work practices and follow shop procedures.
