Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Product Engineer in the Ann Arbor, MI area to design and validate steering system components for major automotive OEMs. You will work across the full development lifecycle with teams and suppliers to bring concepts into production.

You will contribute to APQP activities, product launches, and continuous improvement, with travel up to 20% to customer sites and facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on design, analysis, and collaboration in a global automotive supplier

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in product/design/Development engineering in automotive.
• Experience across full development lifecycle from concept to launch.
• Knowledge of APQP, engineering change management, validation testing, and DFMEA.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop steering system components (columns, shafts, joints).
• Review customer requirements and create specifications and design solutions.
• Lead or participate in design reviews with customers and suppliers.
• Support APQP activities and product launches from concept through SOP.
• Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, and design changes.
• Coordinate prototype builds, testing, and evaluations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve quality and cost.
