Job summary

Accelera in Michigan seeks a seasoned Purchasing Manager to lead sourcing and direct material procurement across our automotive operations. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to optimize supplier performance and cost.

You will shape procurement strategy, mentor staff, and manage escalations with suppliers while ensuring data integrity in our SAP/ERP environment.

Qualifications

Ten or more years of increasing responsibility within procurement or sourcing functions.
Automotive Tier 1/2 manufacturing experience is highly valued.
Direct materials and commodity-based procurement background.
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a purchasing department.
Expertise in contract management and high-stakes vendor negotiations.

Responsibilities

Create and implement procurement plans for direct material categories.
Oversee RFQ process: vendor selection, bid evaluation, and commercial discussions.
Foster strong vendor partnerships for quality, delivery, pricing, and supply.
Lead cost-saving projects and value-engineering efforts to improve profitability.
Track market fluctuations, material pricing, and supply chain vulnerabilities.
Support procurement requirements for new product introductions and programs.
Conduct regular vendor performance assessments and resolve conflicts.
Resolve material shortages with proactive actions to ensure supply.
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management.
Ensure data integrity in the ERP/SAP environment.
Mentor regional purchasing personnel and guide priorities.
