Jabil in Richardson, TX is seeking a Senior Automation / Mechatronic Engineer to design, develop, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing systems.

You will work with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness, while mentoring junior engineers and staying current with emerging automation technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (ME/Mechatronics/CE/EE).
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Automation / Mechatronic Engineer with the automation project lifecycle.
• Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial robots.
• Design and integrate vision, motion control, and other automation tech.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Perform feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments.
• Maintain documentation for automation systems.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on emerging automation technologies and safety standards.

Jabil is seeking a Senior Automation / Mechatronic Engineer to work in our Richardson, TX site.

How will you make an impact?

As a Senior Automation / Mechatronic Engineer with Jabil, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing systems. You will also focus on enhancing production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness through innovative automation solutions.

What will you do?

• Assist the Lead Automation / Mechatronic Engineer(s) with the automation project lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation, testing, and continuous improvement.

• Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).

• Design and integrate vision systems, motion control systems, and other advanced automation technologies.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, process engineering, and quality, to define automation requirements and deliver robust solutions.

• Conduct root cause analysis of automation system failures and implement effective corrective actions.

• Perform feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for new automation initiatives.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems, including schematics, programming logic, and operational procedures.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

• Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous innovation.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all automation projects

How will you get here?

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in industrial or manufacturing automation, including design, programming, and implementation of automated systems OR other combination of education or experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with mechanical, electrical and digitalization.

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.

• Strong experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).

• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is a plus.

• Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) is highly desirable.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and identify root causes of issues.
