Job summary

Mainspring Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to design and deliver industrial automation systems using Beckhoff platform in a manufacturing setting. You’ll lead PLC/HMI/robotics projects and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.

Responsibilities include system design, programming, project execution, and continuous improvement, with 20–25% time devoted to upgrading existing equipment. On-site at Menlo Park HQ with some North America travel.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
• Hands-on PLC experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and Allen-Bradley.
• Strong IEC 61131-3 knowledge, especially Structured Text.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
• Program and debug control systems using Beckhoff platforms; integrate other brands.
• Own projects from conception to completion with timelines and budgets.
• Analyze processes for improvements and troubleshoot to reduce bottlenecks.
• Ensure safety and compliance with industry standards in automation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, hardware, and software teams; mentor junior staff.
